The TL cabinets I know about were not actually made by EV, it was rather a set of plans they provided free for the asking that you then built yourself. They had plans for (at least) 12", 15" and 18" versions. A friend built me a 12" and I used it on club gigs for years.

If you live in Sydney , The Bassplayer have heaps of them. They about $400-$450 each. I see them in the trading post now and then for less.

They are generally rated at 150watts , newer versions were made with 400watt voice coils, these versions are a bit dearer.
I find they sound best run full range , they're not great as a sub only. Two TL boxes is a great sounding rig IMO. Four TL boxes is just huge:)
All you'll need then is your Jands J600 and IVP preamp and you'll have the 'classic rock' sound.

Have a look at this site , you find some good deals on similar speakers www.cannonsound.com.au

    cheers

I think it should be OK but just to be sure......

Have you got some details on the Randall head? How many watts, how many ohms? It should all be written on the back of the amp somewhere.

Last time I was in the Bass Player they had a stack of about 6 or 7 TL's. And they guys in there are cool....

    Sounds good to me:)
    Jackie O is great.

I had my eye on that 18" (if it's the SWR big ben)
Any way they wanted too much $$$ for it , typical of The Ba$$player - everything I want is too bloody dear $$$ grrrrr! service is good though and they're nice blokes.

Not me. The people that live upstairs reckon they can't hear anything, so what hope have you got down the street. I've got a heap of sound proofing foam just sitting in the basement doing nothing because no-one seems to be able to hear anything. I must have deaf neighbours...........

For the record, are you anywhere near Long Reef Beach?

Careful Matt, some people call anyting with a 15 in it a TL. People see my home made JBL 15 and say "hey look, a TL" which it's not. That pic you posted isn't an EV TL.

  13. Looks like we've got us a little Northern Beaches convoy here boyyyyyss,

They wouldn't go below $900 for it. Not sure what a fair price is. I s'pose I would have offered them $500 - and they would have laughed , told me where to go/how to get there;).
I bought a P audio 18 for $220 , a mate gave me a TL bin and it does the job very nicely. It's a cheap speaker , however it's not $700 worse than that SWR - which is a nice speaker.
I like the sound (and feel :D) of 18s I think they have their own sound which is hard to replicate using other combinations of smaller sized speakers. Good idea to run a high/mid with 10' drivers though , 18s are slow response.

The actual model number for the EV TL cabinets (with the EVM 15L speaker) were called the TL-606. I ordered plans for them and had a guy build me two which I put EVM 15L's in and they served me well for many years. They were rated at 200W. I recently sold them for $200 each when I got a pair of 210 cabs.

Actually I think you'll find it's on consignment, meaning the Bass Player are being told how much to sell it for by the current owner.

That would be the E18-400S, right?

P.Audio drivers are better than they're price tag suggests.
