eventual amp for rock/jazz?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by maxrathburn, Aug 6, 2012.

  1. So I am going into my freshman year, which means that I will be in a jazz band (it's all taught by a teacher who has taught us since 6th grade). I play electric bass, not upright. But on my own time I play rock and eventually want to play with a friend of mine (guitarist). I have never gotten into the world of amps in my 3.5 years of playing. I currently just use an Acoustic B100, which I like. I am thinking about what amp could suit my needs for a decent price. I am looking for something at or above 200W and not above, say 500W. As a price range, I would say at or under $500.

  3. Save to extend your budget a tad. I think I would dig This head paired with this cab. Wait for a sale and promo code and you wont have to stretch your budget much.

Definitely a Carvin BX500. Get it used so you have some meat on the bone for a 2x10 cab.
