Ever get a new gut that was dead?

Discussion in 'Strings [DB]' started by Rodney Shuffler, Mar 13, 2004.

  1. I recently put Lenzners on my bass and the A string is just dead, anyone else ever experience this out of a new set of strings?
I had these put on by my luthier while a lot of other work was done as well; the bass is pretty much 100% now and has a new bridge......I don't think it's the instrument.

I have gut strings, not Lezners, but when they were new, or if I de-tune them and then re-tune it takes quite a while for them to settle in. Aside from stretching, they have to be played in more than steel before they sound good. my $0.02.
