    This is sheer ludacrisy.
I love all 3 of them but I'd have to go with #1.

I own all 3... can't watch the first 2 again. They are funny because they are horrible... not because they are funny. At least AoD they are trying to be funny.

(keep in mind I'm a guy that hasn't watched broadcast TV in forever... since the mid 90s and when I did back then, it was only a couple years. I don't watch movies often, and I'd usually rather be doing something else if I do :spit: )

    Almost...
It's actually called "Within the Woods" and it was a 30-minute short used by Raimi to gain financial support for "Evil Dead".

The budget for "Evil Dead" was $300,000
The budget on Evil Dead 2 was $3 million

Even though it was so much cheaper, I liked it better.

Interesting fact about Evil Dead 2,
The top-most book Ash places on the bucket when covering up his decapitated hand is "A Farewell to Arms."

Blasphemy! The second one was definitely trying to be comedic, as well. "A Farewell to Arms" remember that seen? Or all of the blood gushing from the wall?

HMMMMMM, they're both too good to choose...

Can someone explain to me how these movies are related or if they were intended to be unrelated. I mean, if ash goes to the cabin as Evil Dead 1, why would he go back later in Evil Dead 2 and unleash the exact same curse, and I though his girlfriend dies in the first one so how does she get to the second one?

"C.G. the Mexican is a friend of mine, we used to sit around the house watching evil dead..."

I've always wondered what Evil Dead is. Now I know. What kind of movies are they?

"B" Horror turned comedy as it progressed. I bought the VHS tapes at Target for about $7 each

Where'd you get ahold of a copy of "Within the Woods"? I love both movies-the first one has a more classic early 80s horror feel to it, which is great. The second one just has a lot of great humor to it. Army of Darkness-eh, fun, but not nearly as good as the first two.

I wanted to like Bubba Ho-Tep, but it was just waaaaaay too slow and uneventful, and not very well directed (in the camera angles anyways).

the first one was actually trying to be a real horror while the second was trying to be horror/comedy. bruce cambel, "groovy" thats just down right funny!!!

  17. Evil Dead 1 is by far better than 2. I'm a huge "B" movie finatic though, and I love what Sam Raimi (who later directed both Spiderman movies) did with a college level budget. He did a remarkable job at creating a fantastic horror movie on little money.

2 was the better by far, picked up 1 by accident and returned it for the real deal!!!

  19. Actually, all three of the Evil Dead Series movies were independent. They were all originally distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment, which is a company that primarily distributes indie films (also including The Blair Witch Project, and the first Halloween). Though, Army of Darkness was later picked up by Universal when it was released on DVD.
