Hi. Here in Brazil a Fender Geddy Lee Bass is 20
% more expensive than a Fender Jazz Bass American Series. Both brand new and the first one with no case. So my question is... guess what ... wich one should I get?
    Thanks for your time.

Never Steve. I had a Fender MIA Jazz Bass and a MIA DLX. By the way, I returned the last one and I keep the tolex case, so case is not a problem for me now.;)

  4. I've always loved the GLs over Americans. May not look as attractive but they certainly are better sounding with a lot of punch. THey are slap monsters though and if you dont like slapping I dunno if this is your bass.:D

What do you think about a Sadowsky preamp onboard on it?

  9. I use a Sadowsky preamp outboard and it sounds absolutely amazing!

Dressed mine up with a grey pearloid guard, hipshot black tuners, extender and string retainer. New DR sunbeams and it's my fave right now.

    Anybody wanna see it?

I also use the Sadowsky out-board pre-amp/pedal & I won't use the Geddy Lee with out it (or any bass for that matter).

    Please, show your bass.

  13. I've played one. I know... I was saying that once you start playing this thing you won't STOP slapping on it.

I currently put the white pickguard on:

The mods I did to her are:
    -HipShot D-Tuner
    -BassLine Hot for Jazz pickups
-I routed a truss rod cavity so I don't have to take the neck off every time I need to adjust the neck. The 1st GL Jazz I had, the 1st time I took off the neck, a chunk of paint chipped off & I was upset, to say the least.
-I changed the control layout to Volume Blend, tone cause most (I think all) my main basses have a blend & master volume.
-Put a Mirrored pickguard cause I like the look of my Sadowsky Vintage Jazz with a morrored guard.
-Changed the control knobs to the same ones that are on Sadowsky basses just because.

  15. watch ebay... there were a few geddy lees recently for 500 bucks... you might want to have the seller check to see what the maximum size the post office allows for packages being shipped to your country before you bid though... ups doesnt have a size limit but they are really expensive... ive had 2 problems with selling basses to people in foreign countries before... both because of the size restrictions that the post office has... one guy was in israel and one was in nigeria... im not sure what the post office will say about your country but if the limit doesnt apply then you would probably be better off getting a geddy off ebay

    I'd try this...

go to the fender japan site and import from there.

you may even get a bass a little cheaper. but I have never seen the geddy on this site.

however they do have the 75 re-issue and many other basses.

what you could do is buy one of these and do a few mods!

    - badass bridge
    - nicer pickups
    - new tuners (from my experience this is a must)
    - and a pickguard for taste (unless you like the pickguard on the bass you get)

this should be cheaper than a MIA

guys what was the website for fender japan (ibashi)?
