Announcement: Open Auditions for Bassists (Detroit, MI)

    Overview:
We are a professional group looking for professional musicians. We are actively seeking professional, experienced bassists part-time contracted commitments. Full-time commitments may be possible. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

    Bassists:
We are looking for bassists who can lay down a solid groove. You don’t have to be overly flashy. Skill is respected and we encourage you to demonstrate your skills—provided they do not take away from the song or clash with the drums and vocals. Experience in performance is essential. Touring experience preferred but not necessary.Chemistry with our drummer is important. Having reliable transportation and gear is required.

    Performances:
We perform as often as possible and in many different venues, locally and nationally. We play colleges, live-music clubs, bars, festivals, benefits, coffee shops and other venues. Most of your performances** with us will be:

    •Out of state dates
•National tours (anywhere from 1-6 weeks at a time)
    •Local (Michigan) dates
    •TV Appearances

**Our performances range anywhere from 1 45-minute set to 3 50-minute sets.

    Catalog:
We perform original music with some covers. Our cover songs are diverse in style, with some structural differences from the originals. However, this is important to understand: we are an original band performing original music.

    Touring:
When touring, you will receive housing (hotel/bus) and meals/drinks at the venue (if provided by venue). Meals/drinks may be provided for local dates as well.

    Transportation:
Rarely do we ask you to use your own vehicle for shows outside the metro-Detroit area. We use our tour bus or rental vans for almost all shows outside of metro-Detroit. .

    Practice:
We expect our musicians to practice as often as possible in their own time. However, we schedule practices usually one or two days a week when possible. Practices typically last 2-3 hours. Being on time and prepared is required.

    Payment:
You will be compensated for each show you perform. A fair rate will be established by our management.

    Recording:
We may offer you the opportunity to record on future albums. If you are selected to record you will be compensated for your studio time. Rates will be negotiated through management. Our latest album is nationally distributed and we have received airplay in several markets.

    Personal Behavior:
We are a professional band and our shows are contractually binding. Therefore, we have two requirements: 1) we are a drug free band (no drugs of any kind will be tolerated), and 2) we require our members to be prompt and reliable.

What you do in your personal time is your own business. We will not infringe on your privacy. However, while on tour and during performance days we ask you to abide by those two simple requirements.

We are 3 easy guys to get along with. Please, no divas or attitudes.

    Audition Process:
Auditions will be held in front of principal members and our management.

    Date & Location:
We will set up a date and time for your audition via phone or email.

    Audition Music:
We have chosen four songs from our catalog. Each song is different rhythmically and stylistically. You do not have to copy the bass and drum lines exactly. We ask that the structure remain the same. These songs are available for you to download at our MySpace site as of 10/9/06: myspace.com/pbmpoorboymusic

    Audition Equipment:
We will provide a basic 5-piece Yamaha kit (w/cymbals) for drummers. However, if you prefer to use your own kit, please allow enough time for set-up. Bassists, please bring your own equipment.

    Overall Goal:
Our goal is to have new players fully capable of performing by October 28th and beyond. This may include learning 20-35 songs from our catalog.
