Looking for someone(s) within maybe a 100 mile radius of Louisville, Ky to build a couple bass cabinets. I may very well just contact Don at LDS, but want to know if there might be any alternatives.

Around here at least, a lot of finish carpenters and cabinetry folk are cut way back or laid off. You might hit the Yellow Pages and talk to some people and see if you can get on a wavelength with someone...

Try following the local service network backwards to builders. Speaker recone guys could probably point you in the right direction -- at least that's worked for me in the past. You could also talk to install-oriented sound companies. Many of them end up building proprietary boxes sooner or later.

Be careful when asking cabinetmakers and carpenters. They may not understand the special needs for speaker cabinets.

You could end up with issues: weight, lack of bracing, air leaks, or a cab that isn't designed to be moved and thumped.

Naturally, you'd have to provide detailed drawings and measurements to a woodworker, who will simply build what you tell him.

... hi Mitch...I believe you're talking about Art Coates?...he's on my list, but he's affiliated with Bill Fitzmaurice, although don't suppose that would preclude him from doing other things...

Kinda funny how some of the most popular baseball bats out there are made in a state with no major league baseball teams.

I guess it's the same as the fact that so much marijuana is grown in a state where it's illegal... :p
