Tomorrow I'm going to repaint a bass body with this paint scheme:
What do you think?
don't really care for it, but is this a SR505?
It is a quasi-SR505 clone.
It was the first "sample bass" from my prospective Chinese manufacturer, which I rejected as unsatisfactory because of poor pickups and pups, and flawed finish. So I'm having some fun with it.
Revised to two color red/black, as seen above.
Wish I could have seen the first design. The new one wouldn't be my first choice, but as you say you're just having fun so I say go for it.
I've done two coats of the black now - here are other possibilities for the 2nd color other than cherry red:
Personally, I'd split it 50/50 in line with the neck line rather than across the body. Could also be interesting to make it more subtle purple/purple, etc with one being subtly darker than the other. Or could fade the entire body from one to the other of the similar tonal colors.
The harsh edge just seems abrupt running across on such a curvy instrument to me.
I like it, its different, I would go for it.
I'm not a huge fan of the two-tone...but out of those choices, I like the brown/black
It's half full.
Yes, but I've heard that half full basses have fuller tone.
Dunno does it suit the completly without angles body shape, but its a pretty cool idea, reminds me of the old Aria ZZB's, I like the black/pink combo.
I think all the colors are cool.
They remind me of Necco wafers! I can almost taste the chalk in my mouth as I look at them!
Well, you have to imagine what they will look like shiny and glossy.
It's different, and from the sound of it, anything done well will be an improvement.
I like the teal and black. Creme de menthe chocolate chippe
More like this:
Each to their own, but using an angled division, as opposed to horizontal would make a huge difference to me.
Color is a secondary consideration in my opinion.
I would say that color, but mainly because it's my favorite color.
