A collection of videos we might be hard pressed to explain to our kids or extra-terrestials.

    My first choice:

  2. Drugs.

  3. Being on stage next to the late Ruby Starr. R.I.P. How could you concentrate on anything else?

    I love Black Oak Arkansas.
David Lee Roth took a lot from Jim Dandy.
and who doesn't love a 15 minute washboard solo.

  5. I am intrigued, but unwilling to click on the video, lest youtube's algorithm start recommending me more of the same...

This is the one I couldn't explain, somebody has a little to much time on his hand. Considering BOA did some Christian stuff he kind of barking up the wrong tree.

Also in the category of the hard-to-explain from the past is this:

Black Oak Arkansas was the result of a blending Spinal Tap with the Allman Bros.

I tried to explain to our son a couple years ago. Went to grab Phoebe Snow tickets in 1974 more or less and finding that show sold out, bought some Black Oak tickets. San Diego, third row, Probably less than ten bucks each. How could we go wrong? Had a “safety meeting” in T he parking lot before the show and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our son didn’t get it. Oh. Well. G you had to be there?

  12. Aside from that's where Tommy Aldrich first came to prominence (and then luckily moved on to bigger and better) and the late Ruby Starr, that's just white-trash terrifyingly lame.

Now, here's the REAL deal to hopefully, rinse out your ears:

I liked the music. Circa early 50s???? The dance routine made me uncomfortable.

Released on Atlantic in 1956. What was it about the dancing that was uncomfortable? Those kinds of routines date back to the 30’s and hard swing music.

Just explain that it was what passed for entertainment in 1975 for a certain crowd. A cartoon version of ‘Southern Rock’. “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” it ain’t. But then again, for every Beatles, Who, Yardbirds, etc., you had a Freddie and the Dreamers, Ian Whitcomb, or Gerry and the Pacemakers.
