OK, I don't recall ever having made a disparaging remark about extended range basses, but is is still OK for those of who play them to make fun of the 4-string players?

Well, jt didn't say we couldn't.

  4. I believe that would be just as wrong as well...
Why, did you witness an extended range player dissin 4 bangers? And if so did you report it?

I'm both, so can I make fun of both?

  6. People, people, please. Let's not bicker and argue about the respective merits of 4-bangers and ERBs.

Let's all make fun of the people who play 3 and 2 string basses. "We don't need no steenkin' octaves!" indeed. Sheesh.

What about the fellow from Morphine who played a two string tuned E-D?

I also have both. I hate everybody.

  9. Obviously an inferior species of bass player. :p

Seriously, though, what the heck could you play on that thing? The only intervals you can manage are b7, 7, octave and b9 (maybe 9 or b10 up the neck a good ways) - I need my thirds and fifths, dammit!

("Then why don't you play ERBs, Gobywan?" They cost money and I have none, plus my current amp can't even deal with a low B, much less a low F# or C#. I'd love to try, though.)

I'm too clumsy to play an extended-range bass. Can I make fun of myself?

    What about "degrading" and/or "mocking"?

  16. You get to make fun of yourself

  17. i say you can only make fun of us 4 stringers if you can find a good insult. "wE hAvE mOrE sTrInGZ dAn U N003's lOLolOL!!!" is not acceptable. :D

What about guys who have extended range basses but spend the whole gig camped on the E string. Surely we can make fun of those?
