Yahoo has one of those little shorties involving people with funny body parts. Extra fingers was something that was discussed. It appears most people get them removed. If I ever found out my parent removed any extra fingers that were mine I would be mad. How would you feel about that?
Extra fingers are rarely useful as fingers and usually just sit there poking out of next to a functional finger. Would you want a useless pinky-like lump of flesh sticking out of the side of your hand?
I'd love extra fingers. One more on each hand would be incredible. Imagine what other things you could do on the bass with it. Or the extra grip it would provide you, or how fast you might be able to type. There are no end to the applications you might discover that it is useful for. Then that is not a woman I would want to be with. And I'll bet that plenty of women would like what the extra finger might be able to do.
I use to work with a guy that had six fingers on each hand, its a bit of a shock the first time you notice it,...trying not to stare and all
I'm sorry but I'd ask him if I could examine it closely, especially if it is fully functional. I knew a guy in the army that had a thumb replaced with one of his toes. Looked normal; he said it took a few years before he quit seeing a toe there.
I don't need more fingers, but I would like longer pinkie fingers. About a quarter of an inch longer apiece would be nice.
And he the extra on his right hand off at some point-I believe he was drunk. but the extra ones were small--but useful in his slide playing.
I think worrying or obsessing about something like that many years after the fact is pretty pointless.
I've had several patients with some form of polydactyly. Actual usable, functional fingers are exceedingly rare. Weirdo mutant fingers that stick out of the side of another finger but don't have any joints are much less uncommon. I had one nine year old with thirteen and a half digits.
