Hello,I'm selling (no trades)my F Bass BN6, Tburst with ebony board.I purchased this bass used from Brian at LowEnd last year.It is in very good condition,no dings, dents or belt rash.Just the normal players wear that Fbasses are known for.It has a pick guard installed by two small screws. This was done by one of the previous owners.I did however make a new one that better fits the contour of the bass. The bass was made in 05.It has the stock pre.Neck is straight, plays great,no issues.Comes with the F Bass gig bag. $2100.00 shipped PayPal only. The reason I'm selling the bass is I'm playing 34'' scale (Jerzy Excellency)I know....the F Bass is 34.5 but the Drozd fills more comfortable to me.And besides I need to pay of the debt I created purchasing the Drozd. Here are some pic's some from the past and from present. Thank You.

I don't know the owner at all, but I thought I'd speak up and say FBasses BN6s are GREAT basses. In fact, although I currently own 11 basses, my main bass is an F-Bass BN6.

And if I remember right, mine cost over $6,000 new, so grabbing this one would be a great deal for someone.

If you are curious about these basses, here is a youtube clip of an Fbass BN6 being played with piano and drums.

The pianist is smooth Jazz artist David Benoit, and the bassist is a GREAT player named Dave Hughes, and I don't know the name of the drummer, but it's probably Dave too. :eyebrow:

At any rate, here's hoping this bass finds a great home.

I played a BN6 almost exclusively for a couple of years. These are, without a doubt, outstanding basses. And this is a great price on this one!!!

Yes there is something VERY SPECIAL about the BN6. I bought Brad Johnson's BN6 last January and I just can't seem to stop playing that bass. I day dream about playing it since it just sounds so right.:hyper:

Even me, who is very right hand challenged, seems to feel very comfortable playing this bass.

Please excuse me but I think that you are a fool to sell your BN6.:eyebrow:

    Good answer, BassNit.

I doubt that most people understand the significant advantages FBass BN6s have over other 6 string basses. If they did, this bass would be long gone.

First, consider the fact that BN6s have a 34.5 inch scale length.

As you know, Leo Fender designed Precision and Jazz basses with a 34" scale length, which worked great until luthiers started adding B strings to basses. Because they had a hard time giving the B the same oomph as the other strings, luthiers started making 35" 5-string basses.

35" scale length basses certainly tightened the B string, the trouble is they tighted ALL the strings in the process! which is REALLY bad news for the C string of a 6-string bass.

Not to put down anyone else's basses, but the 35" scale 6-string basses I've tried (Fodera, MTD and Yamaha's newer Patitucci), all have C strings that sound tinny to me. I love the basses otherwise, but their C strings are just too tight, and their tone to me is tinny and artificial sounding, and doesn't sound like a note coming from a bass but from some other instrument. I would think that forces their owners to give some real thought as to which strings to buy as well.

Again, I'm not trying to put down anyone else's basses, I've just decided that 35" scale length 6-string basses aren't for me.

Because BN6s are 34.5", their B strings are rock solid, and their C strings still sound like notes being played on a bass.

For a quick example of what I'm talking about...

The other day I was playing my 6 string F Bass (BN6) when a chord progression popped into my mind. I don't play chords on my bass that often and I didn't want to forget these, so I plugged my bass into my Mac with this cheap cable I use to capture ideas quickly. The cable has an instrument plug on one end and a USB plug on the other. I played the chord progression for 16 measures.

When I listened to it on play back, I decided to roll back my neck pickup about 50% and do a quick solo over the top of the chords. The solo is NOTHING special and is sloppy, but I when I played back this simple little recording, I was struck by the difference in tone. With no effort, just tweaking one knob a little bit, it sounded to me as if two DIFFERENT basses were played. I flashed back on Bass Player's review of F Basses, and how how they said F Basses are tonally flexible. They really are.

If you guys promise not to be too critical of my playing or the quality of the recording, here is that spontaneous clip I recorded with my BN6.

Notice how clear and musical the C string sounds. And notice how different the tone of the solo track sounds from the chords.

These basses are REALLY something special!

I think that was very wise, BassNit. I'm glad.

By the way, I was planning to talk about the BN6 pickups, preamp and controls in a future post when it looked like it needed bumping. These are really VERY great basses.
