I see why it is where it is, it just looks like it like it needs to be back a bit, with that being said it looks out of place on the modern contured curves of a jazz bass, maybe a p bass, even better a 51 p bass. or the new squire tele bass "thin line!"

I kinda like it. If it does double duty and lightens up the weight of a typical jazz bass, even better.

  5. I think it would work, but want it towards the bridge.

That would look really sweet with an oil finish and a Pao Ferro fretboard.

I think the placement of the F Hole works in this position. If the control plate and pickgard was done away with I wonder if 2 f holes could be lined up, one on each side of the body.

That looks great, but I would think it would have to be a slab body

Fender Japan recently introduced a Jazz bass with F holes. IIRC, there's a fairly recent thread about that model.

  12. This guy knows what's up!

Can't say I dig it, though the positioning in the 2nd pic is waaaay better than the first.

Or maybe some Harley Earl port holes!!

    hotroddedjazz1.

    Nah, maybe not...
I like the further back version, photoshopped in post 8. Hollowed wings and lighter weight would be cool, if it still sounds good!!

Not the first time you've wondered, I bet? :p

How do you think a Jazz Bass would look with F holes?

I admire your consistency, my friend.
