    Good day fellow TB'ers!

I am looking to sell my Fender Precision Elite I bass, I am pretty sure the S/N dates to 1983. I recently purchased the bass from a fellow from Winnipeg who was retiring from playing, he bought the bass from a Winnipeg music shop about a decade ago, I don't know what it did before then. He never had any work done to it, it wasn't needed. I do have the OHSC, it isn't in perfect shape but the latches all work, the pocket inside is loose on one end but the fur is pretty good. It doesn't stink of mold or anything.

The bass definitely has some "mojo", this was a player's bass over the years it was not a one that was stored under a bed or kept in a closet, so it shows some signs of age. There are some scuffs, chips and dents all over the bass. I tried to photograph it but most wouldn't show up, it has more dents that anything, like the finish has been pushed in. I am guessing it is a nitro finish but I don't know when they started doing poly, there is no crazing anywhere on the body from the cold winters to the warm jam spaces. There are a couple of chips on the bottom by the bridge and one on the right side of the body. On the body on top of the 19th fret there is a series of dents like something rubbed along the body.

There is some slight checking in the chrome on the tone knob and G fine point tuner. There is some thin scratches on the top horn and one on the back. The w/b/w pickguard has yellowed somewhat and the white pickups are showing age as well. The neck finish is checking around a couple frets, the frets have sprouted on a couple to crack the finish on the edge of the neck, Californian basses do not like the cold. The fret sprout in very minimal, you cannot feel any sharp edges or notice it while playing. Also, the tone knob has a slight scratch to it, I sprayed a little deoxit in but didn't want to go crazy. I am trying to disclose every little thing, I have more pics and they will come as I need bumps. I can gladly provide more to anybody who is seriously interested in the bass.

The bass is all original, I do have the straplocks for it, they are Jim Dunlops which I think are the factory strap locks, I know they came with strap locks but I don't think Fender made them in house. The tuners all work great, including the bridge fine point tuners. The truss rod and neck adjustment both work. The original Fender pre-amp is in it and the knobs are the original Fender F knobs. I have the bass currently setup extremely low and there are a couple of dead frets, the 4th fret of the D string and the 5th fret of the G string. The fellow I bought it off of played with quite a high action and none of the dead frets were apparent when I looked at the bass, he even mentioned the frets being all good. I have D'addario 40-90 strings on it currently, there were thicker ones on it when I received it.

The bass is active with one nine volt battery, the one tone knob on this bass is for the TBX control, in the center detent it is the classic Fender tone, when rotated clockwise it increases the presence and brightness and when rotated counter clockwise it functions like a normal tone knob. That is basically what the manual says.

This website, I believe it is another TBers but I could be wrong, is quite informative about this short lived line from Fender. Here is the owner's manual in PDF form.

I am asking for $830 shipped within Canada. I will ship to the States for $800 + shipping if somebody is interested. I would prefer to take payment via interact transfer but will do paypal. I would only be interested in a trade if it was local, but I am not really interested in anything right now, I have too many #1's. I know, first world problems...

    Thanks for looking!

Great site TonH, I read it all when I first acquired the bass.

Here are some more pictures bump! The one on the right is trying to show the rub over the 19th fret, it is hard to photograph.

A vintage bass with great sounding electronics for just about the same as a MIM. This is from the fullerton shop too (that so many crave the RI's from).

    Case pictures!

I think somebody drew the + on the diamond on the Fender logo. The case pocket edge is loose, I am debating about fixing it myself, I will update if I repair.

I have repaired the case pocket, it isn't going anywhere now. I used liquid nail and sadly did get a little matted into the fur near the top edge of the case. The white where the neck rests is not matted down it just looks white in the picture. I didn't take a picture of the open pocket as that one turned out fine.

I will gladly offer a ten day return period if somebody is on the fence. You'd have to pay return shipping though.

  14. I have never played one of these basses so I am wondering ....is the neck like a old school P bass (thick front to back) or like a modern day Fender P (C shape) thank you..

The Elite necks are neither of the above.
They're not particularly fat front to back like a '70s Fender.
But the nut width is the wider 1 3/4" 1950's width.
These basses are nicely built. I have an Elite II, and it has tone for days.

Thanks for answering his question, that is a better answer then I could give.

Another bump, starting to think about going to the bay.

Kind of surprised this is still out there. I have an Elite II. These kick a standard P in the nuts!
