Up for sale is my 2009 Modulus Quantum 5. It has the Chechen fretboard and is finished in a sweet amber!

    -Specs-
    35" scale
    24 frets
    Nordstrand DC5 pickups
    Aguilar OBP-3 preamp
**brand new and installed by Brian @ the LowEnd on 7/30**
    weight 9.5 lbs
Brand new set of EB Slinky strings (40-125)
    OHSC in excellent condition

I acquired this bass from Dr. Z here on TB a few months ago. It came to me in MINT condition! I have never taken this bass out of the house except to have Brian install the pre and is in Near mint to mint condition! There is not a scratch on it that I can see!!! It also has a fresh setup with LOW action and plays like a DREAM!!!

Unfortunately I have some school loans starting to come back and haunt me and something has to go!!!:bawl:

Are these the original pups? Why did you switch the pre? Truss rod?

From what I understand, the original owner had Modulus send the bass to Nordstrand to get the electronic work done custom before he took delivery from the factory. Carey was the one who actually did the work on this bass. It originally had the Nordy DC p/ups and the Nordstrand 3B-4a pre.

I felt the original pre was a bit tame for me and the gentleman I bought the bass from really liked it. So I purchased an OBP from The Perfect Bass, had Brian do the change out and sent the Nord pre back to Bruce.

The truss rod works perfectly! I have only had to make one or two SMALL adjustments since I have owned it (different climate and what-not) but it is rock solid with super low action!

hope this helps and thanks for looking! :bassist:

I imagine it sounds pretty aggressive. The opposite of "smooth" right?

it definitely has a nice growl to it, but I play a lot of old R&B/soul and I can get a pretty nice smooth tone. I have been using the pre fairly wide open (bass 70-75%-Mid 80-90% treb 75-80%) for finger funk slap and roll a bit of the treble to about 40% and mid to about even with the bass.

Both Vol 100% for rock/funk/slap and roll back pup off a bit for R&B.

It obviously sounds like an active setup, but I think if one put a piece of foam at the bridge it would get a nice muted "thud" sound like the old p-basses.

...also open to trades as long as at least $500 comes with it! I would strongly consider the right p bass (preferably a Bluesman Vintage Deville) or a nice Spector.
