This bass has been with me for a long time...longer than any of my other basses but I find that I'm into different stuff and the SB2 isn't really what I want anymore. There is a lot going on with this one, it isn't stock. Here is what has been replaced: New bone nut put in after the original cracked One of the tuners is not original, it's a replacement Schaller It has the "tone mod". Controls are stacked Neck pickup V/T and bridge PU volume. This bass was made in 91 and it says "By Leo Fender" on the headstock. I'm guessing this was made right before the buyout? So it's 17 years old and it shows it's age. There is finish checking , some dents and one chip by the upper straplock. Some of the finish on the back of the neck is worn around the 3-7 frets and the underside of the fingerboard is worn comfortably around the same areas. The neck is broken in through player wear, no relic job here. It's recently had the frets leveled and crowned. There is moderate fretwear but it would probably last another 10 years before you'd have to think about a refret. Hell, at that point I'd just defret it and make it into a kick butt fretless. Everything functions as it should, it's a players bass and it just isn't getting the playtime nowadays. Pictures will follow shortly. It is black with the crinkle PG and bridge and maple neck. weight is around 9 lbs, maybe a bit less. This is the real deal, action is low, output is high. asking price is 500.00 with 20 bucks shipping. Thanks! Dan
And this shot shows some of the finish checking and indents on the back. No big deal and is to be expected of a bass that's been used. any questions or offers, feel free to PM me, thanks! Dan
Dan is VERY PICKY about his gear and this bass was his #1 for a long time. Many basses have gone through his hands in the meantime while this stayed. Given that, you can rest assured that it is a sweet player.
It most certainly is and with the fret level and crown that was done, it plays even better now. The level did take a little bit of life out of the frets as the frets were a bit of a mess but there is still plenty of life still left in them. It really is a shame as I did love this bass for such a long time. I've gone through MTD's Laklands, Moduli, Zon, Warwick, the list goes on and on...and this one stayed in my stable and was my main bass. Dan
