Just put this together and am stoked about the results. I want to put another one together with some different options so I thought I'd see what kind of interest there was in this one.
They make it super easy. My original kit was ordered with a 5 pc maple/walnut/maple board neck but I picked up this Carvin neck from LAG and kept the maple neck for my next project. I had a local guy solder the wires and set it up but I did the rest. I'm not a luthier but I'm totally thrilled with the results. Especially the sound. If I want a Marcus, Jaco or any other sound I find it in this bass. THE WEIGHT Less than 8.50 lbs (even with the heavy duty Carvin bridge and 2 nine volt batteries)

I call it Strawberries N Cream. *****$675 shipped conus

One piece Ash body in Strawberry Red
    Rosewood FB and knobs
    Cream covered pickups/truss rod cover
H50 hum canceling pickups(and I'm glad I went this route)
    Vol-Vol-Tone(p/p)-Stacked Bass/Treble
    34" scale

The parts for this cost more than what I'm asking.

The thing on the cover plate is where the plastic is still on there.

An awesome playing and sounding instrument. Great B string.

Thanks Dave. I can't believe how much lighter these are compared to the SB body. This one sounds significantly better than the SB5000 that you and I have owned. Unreal.

Great looking bass! You do have skills my friend. I too love red basses but kinda favor blue for my basketball teams!

This is an incredible bass... The SB just gets more publicity. I have one ordered and on the way...

If you're on the fence about this one, trust me... DIVE IN!

If I hadn't already ordered, I would definitely buy it from you!

What are the H50 pups like? How do they sound?

Can you give me brief description of how they compare to the J99A?

Because I have a Sadowsky I'm taking liberty to say the sound is "very similar to the Sadowsky hum canceling pickups and pre". There's a sweetness to them that the J99A's didn't have. They are very much like one another but I could push the tone control and the active Treble control much hotter without it getting harsh sounding in that lower treble range. I don't feel I'm losing anything with the H50's that I can't dial back in without the noise of course. They're going in my next Carvin project too. I hope that helps answer your question.

    BTW, that's the H50A, correct?

Carvin seems to have several variations of this and the J99A. Some appear to be simply based on cream covers or black covers and Soapbar covers. But one or two others don't seem to have much of an explanation.

Yes, Big blue--UK! I'm thinking well-made 34 inch scale 5's are selling quite well right now (maybe they always have). Some early ones were poorly made and lacked tightness, tautness of the B; but Carvin models with this neck seem to always be in high demand by TB'ers.

This is one beautiful bass and if Halegroove put it together............it is of the HIGHEST quality in EVERY aspect--!!
