One of a kind - This 5501 is loaded with new Nordstrand Big Singles and a new 9v Sandberg Panther 3 band pre amp. All cavities copper shielded, pro install.

The matte black finish was achieved with #0000 auto finish sandpaper and paste wax. I added the Jazz bass knobology- 2 large for vol. + blend, 3 small for eq.

No issue neck, frets ex., nut slotted low, brand new set of DR Long Neck Tapered Stainless strings. I rubbed out the rosewood with beeswax/orange oil. There is an indent from a string on the fretboard midway up on the E. Small thing, but there it is. Weight is reasonable, I'd say less than 10lbs.

Includes an older molded Fender HSC.

SNOOZED AND LOSED-OFF THE MARKET- THANKS!

This is a Skyline series (import) and I believe the 55-01 is the cheapest (in price) of any of the Lakland 5 string models.

  8. I used to have a 55-01 with the Big Singles and if anyone is wondering how they sound let me tell you one thing, they sound amazing. They're night and day compared to the Korean Bartolini MK-1's and you still get a great feeling Lakland neck. The B strings on these are every bit as nice as on their 55-02 or 55-94 bigger brothers. If I had the money I'd snag this but with a baby on the way and my job going down to 4 days per week I have to save my bones. I regret the day I sold mine. She was a beauty.

Good luck with this sale. Whoever gets baby this will love the day he/she bought it.

Thank you Matty, thank you Cap'n.

The stock electronics have a clear, even sound with an almost glassy top end. They are also what makes this model the least expensive in the Skyline 5 string line up. The rest of the bass is of equal quality to any of the others offered regardless of price. Same woods, necks (w/ slight differences), hardware, etc. It is an excellent design and a perfect platform to modify.

My best description of the current tone would be Warm and Snarly.:D

    this is SO bad ass!

I've wanted to do to drop nordies in a 55-01 for years.

    Alas - 5 strings ain't my thing.

Your styling of the bass is awesome - who needs shiny?!

    Good luck with the sale.

Tanks! My vision was 100% industrial strength and it really turned out well. Lots of fun doing the mods even though I had to buy 3 sets of Jazz knobs to get enough small ones! This was my 1st 5 and I've just decided they are not my thing either. Otherwise I'd be keeping her.:smug: It goes where a 5502 fears to tread.
