Facebook wants your nude photos. What could possibly go wrong?: Menon | Toronto Star Are there people out there that will do this? How can we save them from themselves?
1. I was under the impression that Facebook didn't allow nudity. I've never seen anything like that before on there, doesn't mean it doesn't exist but I've never heard of it. 2. How does that stop someone from revenge posting your photos onto reddit or something else? It's just one company. 3. We don't need to save people from themselves, it's a free country. If they want to take butt photos and put them onto the internet that's their business. IMO of course. Seems like bad judgment to me but I'm not in charge of them nor should I be.
If you're an idiot in real life, you're an idiot on Facebook. Facebook doesn't make us dumber, it simply shows us how stupid we always were. Why blame an app?
I'm sure many people will jump on board. Seems like a good decision if you're into that kind of stuff. -Mike
The French are way ahead of the game - In France, Posting Your Kid's Picture On Facebook Could Land You In Prison. Well worth a thought
Oh, Facebook. + 10 points for trying to combat a genuinely horrible problem. - 100 points for most likely accomplishing the exact opposite. + 1 point to the guy who pitched the idea and said it was for a good cause. You sly devil. --^@
Agreed, with one exception....Facebook shows EVERYONE ELSE how stupid we always were. Sending FB a nude in order to keep that nude from going public is akin to stabbing yourself to avoid being stabbed. There are millions of other places a nude can be distributed. If you are concerned enough about a picture to consider this, you have much bigger issues in your life.
I'm the OP and I consider this an asinine attempt at a solution, but as @Chicory Blue mentioned, revenge porn is a serious issue, especially with teens. The emotional damage that "a picture" can do to a developing psyche is very real. This thread was an attempt at belittling FB, not at minimizing the gravity of this issue.
