Hey, I got a friend who is about to buy a left handed 1978 Rickenbacker. I thought it might be azureglo, but the one pic just looks like it's blue, can't tell if its dark or light. Minor play wear, nice shape.

I would normally say 1800 is a fair value, and if he got it for 1500-1600 that would be fine. BUT, that is if it was a righty, I have NO idea how this affects things since it is a lefty. Would you guys think it would be worth less or more?

Sorry for the pointless thread, that is my specialty ;)

The way the maket is now, 1500 is a fair pricefor a 4001. Rh or lf does not really change the price.

Bare in mind, he can pick up a new 4003 starting around 1995.00. At 1800.00, I would buy a new one.

Thanks for the reply! I'll tell him that.

I had an 83 or 82 4001 in azureglo, put it on ebay for a BIN of 1800, it was gone within 30 minutes. I then saw someone reselling it for 2500 or so, because of the azureglo. I am pretty sure he got just a tad less than that.

I think this might be different than the azureglo tho, still I think if he gets it for 1500, he should be fine.

I think lefty Rics are getting $2k and up on ebay, so $1500 is definitely a good price.

Lefty Rickenbackers definitely cost more. Currently there are 30 Ricks on US Ebay, not one is a lefty. That last lefty Rickenacker on Ebay was over two weeks ago. There were about 5 total in April, all going for $$$.

A brand new lefty Rickenbacker bass for $2K? Please show me were. Rickenbacker has stopped production on lefty instruments, it would be impossible for find a new Rickenbacker at any price.

$1800 is a good price for a lefty Rickenbacker 4001. Is it worth $1800 is another question.

Yes. Rickenbacker no longer makes lefty guitars or basses.

They said the discontinuation is only temporary, but I will believe it once I see a new lefty Rick again.
