Fairly new player

    My qustion is i have been playing for 2 yrs was tought the basics by my brother and have been playing in his band for abought a year (classic rock ) i think i do ok can finaly keep up
    but i cant quite get the runs (keep in mind i can't read music or anything else) i play by ear i know when it isn't right i can play blues runs but cant get the short runs to sound right

    since i dont understand any of the lingo is there a book or anything i can get to help explane it to me

    I think one of the best resources is right here at talkbass. There might be some searching needed but it should be worth it. Get a subscription to a bass mag and visit other sites like activebass, bassucally.net and more.

    It is vitally important to understand the lingo. It will allow you to play in may different situations with other players than your brother
