dx7 - wow, blast from the fm synth past. cool.

  5. Wow, a bass player who recognizes the DX7 as an FM synth... :D :)

Thanks John... even though my family isn't as big as yours, it 'feels the love' all the same.

  6. jt -

... wait a minute, now that I think of it, didn't I see a JV1010 in one of your rack photos?

And the other synth, if I remember correctly, is an Ensoniq ESQ1. Also from the 80's.

  8. Hmm...this inspires me to make an extended family photo. The instruments I own, and then the instruments my band owns.

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
Has an official "family" thread ever been created? I searched and didn't find one.

It would be cool to have a thread which contains everyone's "family" shots like Bimplizkit's.

Well, this could be the family thread then!

BTW - i knew the DX7 is FM synthesis =0)

Anyways, here is *my* family shot, finally! It's not a great shot, and yes, that is a gee-tar in there...

(the curbow at left is soon to be white, thanks to Hambone. Not an intentional pattern, actually.)

Edit: It's funny how small the body on the Curbow is, and how big the body on the Bird is, when you see them together.

Also, the strap on the right is populated with Hard Rock Cafe guitar-pins (with the city name on each) from all over the place - I'd like to have all of them someday, but don't usually actually *eat* there!

oh, heck yeah. i used to screw around on keys in the late 80's along with bass, and i had almost perpetual access to a dx7 for about a year. great keyboard.

if anybody wants to scan another family photo, I can snailmail a glossy of my old keyboard setup, when I was doing electronica.

At its peak, it was something like:
    Kurz K2000
    Roland MC303
    Roland TR606
    Roland TR707
    Yamaha SH101
    Novation BassStation keyboard
    3ms (now 4ms) Triwave Picogenerator
3ms/4ms Noise Swash, Phaseur Fleur and Tremulus Lune in a custom 1U rack unit
    Technomage L.I.F.E. and B.O.B.
    Boss SP202
    various and sundry other stuff.

I'd love to share that pic.

Is that a Lindert? I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

Sure is, Tim - one of the best lower-end guitars I've ever laid ears and fingers on... just rocks and is full of tone!

Yeah I didnt spot the DX7 until you mentioned it actually but my dad has one which is out at the moment (although it does seem to generate alot of hum).
