With the addition of my "new to me" Black & maple SR4, I figured it was time to get my humble collection of Ernie Ball Musicman basses together for some family photos!

Being a lefty has always made finding nice basses a challenge. I have amassed a pretty sweet little collection over the years and these 4 basses are the crown jewels for sure. EBMM colors are notoriously hard to photograph but these shots actually do represent the particular colors of my basses quite well. The glitter of the True Gold Bongo doesn't really come through but it sure is a fantastic color and Transparent Orange will always be one of my favorites.

So here they are for your left handed viewing pleasure:

First up is the latest addition to the lineup, a 2009 Black&Maple SR4. never thought I would want another black bass, but this one really is a classic color combo:

Paired up with my 2006 Black Cherry Burst SR4:

And now the fivers - my first EBMM, a 2005 Trans Orange SR5 and my 2009 True Gold Bongo 5.

And here they are all together:

These are half the collection. My other lefty basses include a 2008 USA Fender Jazz, 2006 Diamond Anniversary USA Fender Precision, MIM Fender Jazz fretless (hot rodded) and a Carvin LB75P fretless neck thru fiver.

Here's a pick of the collection prior to the Bongo and black SR4 arriving:

  5. Words cannot express my jealousy. If you ever get tired of any of those, mind sending a couple to Jersey? :p

Thanks everyone. The Black Cherry Ray has an incredible growl to it and it just works so well in the mix that it has become my go to bass over the past few years. I did some comparing last night to the new Maple board Ray and they did sound different. However it could be that one had older strings on it then the other and the pickup height is not exactly the same on each bass.

The maple neck feels chunkier in a good way and it sounds a tad snappier to my ears. i would have to restring both basses to really compare them fairly.

  12. I prefer maple boards on Stingrays. They just seem to have a bit more bite. The black and maple looks great!

I really like your orange fiver too.

  13. Is that why you opened the thread:p

You have a really great collection of basses
