Since Halloween is almost upon us I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's favorite, and/or best/worst horror movies made are.

    A classic indeed.
  7. Snake - The Descent is one of my favourite modern horror films. At least until the point where you see the things regularly. The suspense of the first half - 3/4s is incredible :)

So many good flicks, and so many bad ones, too many to count :p
  8. Im not really a fan of horror movies but I loved Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. THe musical was great too. Not a huge fan of army of darkness. Just seemed too cheesy lol
  9. Best-
    Dawn of the Dead
    Shaun of the Dead
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Eraserhead (not really horror, but creepy as all hell)

Rob Zombie movies, all of 'em
    Basketcase 2
Any Saw after the first one
    Mama Mia!

One of my favroites is the original version of The Hitcher starring Rutger Hauer and C. Thomas Howell. It was scary without being gory too.

The Descent 2 takes off were The Descent ends and is really good except the the absolutely stupid ending. Ignore the last 2 minutes and it's a winner.

    Its not even Romero's best.:p

Fun fact--according to popular legend, Martin Scorsese and George Romero are both huge fans of The Red Shoes. If I remember correctly, Scorsese went to rent the film (this was back when you had to rent the actual reels of film), and it was checked out. A befuddled Scorsese asked the place to check who'd rented it, and it was some guy named, yup, George Romero.

    The Haunting in Connecticut
    The Changeling
    The Ring
    Sixth Sense

    And my two newest favorites:
The Orphanage (LOVE this one....could be my all-time fave.)
  14. I dont know if I want to see it, I liked the ending of the first film, a nice twist (and slightly less obvious that most horror films, slightly).

I love the movie, but I liked the Dario Argento cut better (especially the music).

Which ending did you see? The European, American, or unrated?

European - stuck in the darkness losing her mind.
American - escapes and sees Juno's ghost in the SUV
    Unrated - both mixed together

    I prefer the European ending.

Part 2 has her escaping via underground waterways.

Hahaha, the thread title makes it sound as though listing just about any horror movie would do.

I had heard that the sequel wasn't half the film the original was.

And I've only seen the Unrated version.
  19. The version I saw seems to have been a mixed one then. You saw her escaping, but then she woke up to being still in the caves/going mental. I didn't realise there was different endings, which is a shame, I thought the ending I saw was pretty well done.
