Favorite Artist/Band at Talkbass?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Bassline1414, Oct 9, 2001.

  1. After cruising through the artists at the Talkbass Station (see link in my signature :)) I found some really cool songs! I've also visited some of the artist webpages, and found equally good stuff. Right now, my favorites are...
    Lord Only (John Turner)
    Shonuff (PhatBoi5)
    Mud Prophets (Blisshead)
    The Now (Mock Turtle Regulator)
    Stoke (Bruknow)
    :)
(Moderators: I didn't know if I should put this in recordings, bassists, or misc., so move it if it's in the wrong place, thanks!)

    My picks:

    Mike Dimin (this one KICKS!)
    Mud Prophets
    Tober
    Sambossa? (Bruce Lindfield)
    The Now

...and of course, Steve Swyers! :D

  3. Oh really, you don't mean it! Everyone else makes my music look like crap.

Well, your recording is certainly on the lo-fi side of things ;), but the very idea of the song is far more interesting than many of the other plain, can I say boring textures, that are to be heard on TB station. I can only like a song if it catches my interest, and yours absolutely did that!

  5. Thank you very much! :) I record on my computer so it's really lo-fi, can't afford studio time yet!

Anywho, I forgot Dave Siff. I especially like his Brass Castle stuff! :)

I am my favorite bassist on TalkBass. If I had a band that I could be proud of, I'd post some of my (our) sh*t on here for you all to hear.

Thanks to the joys of my 56k modem, I haven't actually been able to download very many songs. From what I have heard, I especially like the MTR's solo, and Oysterman's effort, though I've been pretty much impressed by everything I've heard.

You hear that? EVERYTHING. So you'd all better return the compliment when I share my underwhelmingly mediocre efforts with you. :p

    My favorites are:

"Day's End" by Xavier and "T Off" by Michael Dimin. Both great tunes.

  12. Wow Oyster, I'm impressed, this is cool! Everything flows really well on this song, which is more than I can say for my tunes. :D

    Lord Only (heh heh...)
    I like Oysterman's stuff too :p

    oh...and me. :D

My band should be getting MP3s up later by the way, just a heads up.

  14. I also like Joris' bands, especially Groozle Fuzzgig, as well as Tober's Burnt Iris.

Thanks, everybody who mentioned my band. I've found talkbass to be a very humbling experience, from the skills of Xavier G to the the brutal sounds of Nino's Theorem, there are too many to list. I have a cable modem at home and regularly listen to SMASH's mp3 station as well as check out the links in all your sigs and home pages. Good to see we are all listening to each others music.:)

  16. Your music is very original, Blisshead. I think that's why a few people have mentioned it on this thread. Great stuff!

Thanks, i appreciate it. I'll pass the compliment on to the band, (which I'm probably departing, but oh well).

wooohoo some people like Tober:eek: I was suprised!

Nino: Cmon! You should be promoti.... i mean.... nevermind ;)

  20. :) thanks for the mention, Bassline1414, Oysterman, John Davis and Yawnsie.
a pleasant surprise,as the Now stuff isn't exactly technical (or very tight on "Rising"- drummer needs to learn to calm down in the studio...)...hence the MTR solo I did....

particular faves of mine on the station are Oddentity's Symmetricum "Short of a god" and Paul Jarrett's "song for alex".
