if i'm not mistaken it's been a while we had that one!

What is your favorite guitar solo?
for a long while it was sultans of swing from dire straight.
But right now my favorite is
5 days in may by blue rodeo, for those who don't know the song and never heard the solo, download it!!!
it's a great song and an incredible solo.

Also, anything by david Gilmour is great!! :)

    what is yours?

The one that doesn't happen! There are very few guitar solos that make me say, "WOW, that was a good guitar solo."

Seriously, though, in terms of ROCK music, anything by Mark Knopfler is fan-tastic.

Brian May has a tone that I like very much... 'We Will Rock You' has a sound that grabs me, as does 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'... For making a statement, George Harrison in 'Let It Be'...

  7. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zepplin (which everyone probably knew...)

Almost all Metallica/Hendrix songs have sweet solos.

but this thread seems off place on the talkBASS forums, but whatever. i play both, so its all good

everything Petrucci... both fast and slow...

I usually dont care about guitar players but his playing on "Funeral for a friend" is outstanding and it does has feeling.

I usually don`t even notice guitar solos, but here are few that caught my attention:

easy by faith no more - simple perfect solo by jim martin

carry stress in the jaw by mr. bungle - crazy fast overdriven giutar / trombone duel. hits hard.

suka by o.n.a. - skawinski used to put 12 solos per album, on this album he only played that one. 6 seconds, lotsa notes.

    anything that bb king plays.
  19. Sweet Child o' Mone - Guns 'n' Roses

Slash can really make that guitar sing!
