There's only ever been 2 that really stood out to me on talent personally, but that makes me wonder how many other amazing keyboard players are out there I don't have experience with. The 2 I think of are

Janne Wirman - Children of Bodom

Dude solos keyboards the way guitarist do. He's the main reason I listen to the album HDR

    Jordan Rudess - Dream Theater

I don't think he's AS good as Janne Wirman, but he's still amazing at it. Good for filling in sound.

    Then... theres always this guy

For rock, Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman really stand out.

In other styles, Herbie Hancock, Elton John and Chick Corea come to mind.

    Too many more to mention.

  8. Two came to mind.

    Trent Reznor. Enough said.

Tony beliveau. Crash Kings. I saw them open for the Offspring a few years back. Really impressive. His brother was just killing it on bass too.

and on the other side of the coin...Rupert Greenall from The Fixx.
more of a 'sound design' atmospheric type of keyboardist than a shred machine.
    my favorite keyboardist.
Their bassist, Dan K. Brown is also awesome.

I realized I probably need to add George Whitty to that list. I've only discovered him recently via youtube, but everything I've heard of his is really checking off all the special boxes for me: Incredible playing chops that aren't just athletic wanking, big ears, excellent use of technology to expand his sonic palette, surrounds himself with astonishingly good musicians (bassists include Ric Fierabracci, Janek Gwizdala, and Etienne MBappe), and comes across -- at least on youtube videos -- as a quiet, humble, down-to-earth guy. Me like.
