There are so many great music cities in which to live and play. Which is your favorite, and do you live there now?

Philadelphia. They're pretty cool out there. I'm a Yankee fan and had a gig at the packed Lickety Split bar on South Street the night they beat the Phillies in six games to win the 09' World Series. I wore full Yankee garb (jersey and hat), screamed when the final out was made, and expected to get booed out of the place, but they were good sports about it.

I like Blues... voted Memphis, never fails to deliver, but I don't live there.

Memphis tugs at my heartstrings too. Would you live there if you could? I am seriously considering it.

I left Philly and Detroit off on purpose as so little is coming out of them. I think you'd have to be mad (or Mad Max) to move to Detroit.

It's been almost 30 years since I lived in any city. 'Nuff said, I guess. Or_wink.gif

Me too. I live in rural Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Mostly farms and small towns. Barns we got. Bars not so much.

    Dublin, Ireland.
I voted 'other' as you didn't include my hometown of Dublin, Ireland.
There's a pretty vibrant and varied music scene here.
However, from your list, and the time I've spent there (although never played out) if I had to pick a city for a musical career I'd pick New York.

I thought about Dublin. Also Berlin, and Amsterdam.

Nice. I did my my time just outside NYC growing up, and then later in Boston, Buffalo, Philly, Toronto, and Seattle. Portland's an hour away now, but I only go there to catch music a couple of times a year, and basically never to play. For being a rural/suburban area we have a decent enough scene, but it's nothing like the Big Tent. And NYC will always be the Big Tent in my mind, for better and worse.

    Singapore
there's a lot of entertainment going on & they're no slouches on pay
however, living expenses are crazy unless you live like a pauper, which I think most working musicians in Singers do

How many world famous bands come out of Singapore or immigrate there?

I also left off the entire continent of Australia, but not on purpose. I just never think of Australia.

Plus Singapore is an incredibly modern city-state that is the melting pot of Asia. Much more so than Hong Kong.

duty free, it's a great place to set up a trading company

the first place in the world, AFAIK, where you could order your groceries over the internet or stream TV over the internet

Japan may have done it first, but I witnessed it first in SG

Yeah. That is such f***ing lame list. As if the only music cities in the world are in the US and England. So f***ing lame of you, man.
