  15. Cocbolo and zebrawood are not what I would consider to be plain tops.

  16. Me either.

Padauk with a Tung Oil finish. Has this rich reddish glow with deep red steaks....mmmm....Look at the picture of Padauk on the FBB site under the list of woods, and you'll see what I mean!

A good piece of Koa can destroy the looks of most other woods. If you get an exotic (NOT FLAMED) version with tons of various colors running through it....OMG....There used to be a picture on the old Warmoth site on an example of what I'm talking about, and to this day, I don't know if I have ever seen a more appealing wood.

Although that Dave Pushic Custom is close.....

rickbass, I LOVE YOUR PICKUP CHOICES.....Does that Basslines MM pickup have the Ceramic or Alnico magnets? Cause I would think the Ceramic magnet one THAT close to the bridge would be insane, and not something I'd want. And is that a Bartolini Soapbar?

Alnico 5, Chris - made in their Custom Shop. I really liked the tone profile of those original `76 Rays with the Alnico, so that's why I didn't get ceramic.

    Correct, that's a Bart - a 4-coil M55C, (the "deep" model).

Say what you guys want about cocobolo, but the figure you see in the examples here are "plain" boards. The man said his thread excluded aberrations found in nature, not the prettiest girls at the dance. ;)

The ash on my elrick is great, though it isn't a top.

I am also partial to redwood lace burl, and maybe there is some nice crotch walnut in my future;) .
