So, when adding a 12 sub to a fEarful 12/6, does the sub only come into play at 45hz and lower? Secondly (and of the previous is true), then this cab would need to be ran parallel (daisy-chained) from the 12/6? Sorry for the stupid questions.

I believe so yes but I'm not 100% sure. Adding the sub does vastly increase the overall volume as there's double the speaker surface area.

I will have to ask folks on the GB thread. I’m interested if these act more like an extension cab, then solely a sub. And if you are willing to ship…..

the original 12sub was designed to be used as an extension for a 12/6 with the more efficient midrange (not the alpha) and the specific crossover with a switch to a built-in pad. you would switch the 12/6 pad off or on for use with or without the 12sub as an extension. for this purpose, the 12sub used a low-pass crossover set at about 800 hz. i had a setup like that; worked like a charm! the 12 sub & 12/6 would run in parallel, at 4 ohms nominal.

::::BASSIST:::: if you want me to remove this post from your f/s thread, just give me a quick heads up

Hmmm sounds to me like this sub is designed to be only run with a GB 12/6. I am looking for an extension cab for my Jack 12 and am intrigued.

better to say it was designed as a sub-800hz extension cab or to be used as a standalone sub with external crossover; i.e., "... this sub is designed to be run with the upgraded GB 12/6", but not only that. greenboy's system was designed to be modular and flexible i.m.o. ... do bear in mind that my 12sub & 12/6 experience is with the original greenboy designs. however, i have used my 12sub as an extension cab for a pair of 1x10s as well as my 1x15 and it works great! loud and low.

considering the price of a new 3012lf is $200. or more all by itself, and an assembled new flatpack runs about $350. plus shipping, this particular cab is underpriced i.m.o.

Yes, I've used the 12sub with other cabs as well and have yet to be disappointed.

I'm selling this cab super cheap as it's taking alot of room up under my bed in my campervan. My girlfriend is about to move in with me so I need to sell the cab in order to make room for her.

If built according to spec there is an LPF that mimics that portion of the crossover in the 12/6. You would run it as an extension and it basically acts to beef up your low end volume wise. Also if the 12/6 is stacked on it makes for an even better stage monitor.

    Yes - extension cab.

Note. I ran my 12/6 with CBG crossover and a pad on the mids over a 12/sub with no LPF installed. It sounded just fine to me...

I'm finishing up a 12/Sub in the tube format to fit under my 12/6 tube and will do the same thing. @singlemalt built both cabs. All I have to do is the duratex and mount the hardware. (and paint as much of my house as the heat will allow).

  19. The 3012LF driver alone currently lists for $209 @ Parts Express.

Running a pair of 12/6 or a 12/6 plus a sub also drops resistance from 8 ohm for a single cab, to 4 ohm for the pair. You get a big volume increase right there.

I’ve found the stand alone subs, by themselves, don’t work for bass. There’s just not enough mid and high for good definition. Paired with another cab with enough mids and highs can sound very nice.

Obviously, they play very well with other fEarfuls.

This is a sacrifice at $200, but getting a girlfriend to move into the van? Priceless!
