    SOLD LOCALLY

A prospective sale, which was in limbo for two weeks, has fallen through so I'm putting this back for sale. A 2000 Ampeg Portaflex 15R, in excellent condition with an Eminence Deltalite speaker upgrade. Super clean with very low hours and a tight cab. I'm told these don't come up for sale often in these parts (Southern New England).

Because of several requests, I'm checking on shipping costs for this, probably in two packages. If you are serious about it and want to know about shipping costs, I will post when available. I still prefer local sale but will consider shipping requests.

This is the reissue of the classic Ampeg B-15N with more than twice the power, 2000 model. There are differing opinions on TB about how this compares with the vintage, but I have not been disappointed. It produces a range of tones and definitely has the tube vibe. Can be used in with either 60w or 100w, so there's a good deal of power. Upgraded speaker is the super-light Eminence Deltalite II 2515 Neo 15", that doubles the wattage of original and cuts the overall weight.

I'm liking this alot with the new speaker and am really torn about selling. But it's heavy. With the lighter speaker it's down to about 110 lbs from 117.

Mostly looking for sale in Southern New England, with range from MA, CT, RI, Metro NYC even southern NH. Best to try it out, but I will meet serious buyer part way, within reason. As noted above, shipping could be an option.

I'm looking for $1400 and I'll throw in the original speaker if interested. Comes with dolly and tuki cover.

    Shoot me any questions

Someone get on this BUMP! A really fantastic amp!

Wish I had bought mine locally- had it shipped from CA to NYC and it arrived with the tube cage completely crushed, the plexi busted and numerous tolex scrapes and tears. About $250 worth of repairs got it back to new but what a pain in the... well, you get me, pick up is key! GLWTS!

Bluedog -- What do you like most about this amp. For me, it's the range of tones and the big thump, both of which got better with the speaker upgrade.

Map 34157 -- See Bluedog. I think shipping this would present potential problems on your end and very expensive. I'm almost afraid to ask how much.

Have you had a chance to compare your '64 B15N to the reisssue and what do you think?

IF not, come give this a try.

This amp has the vintage all-tube thump with some great modern improvements - the bump in wattage is key, the DI is nice and the wattage toggle is a great touch too. 100W's makes it very usable live and it goes without saying that it's the perfect studio amp. As for the range of tones, you can put a little hair on it if you want and yet goes super clean. Just depends if you run it at 60W or 100W and how you work the gain/master balance. Something about this amp (and all B15's really) that just makes it sit perfectly in the mix. Lots of low end (and low-mids) but still has the highs I need to bring out the attack of my fingers, a critical part of my sound. The other great thing about these is that you don't have to feel bad about gigging it. Because it's not a museum piece it give's you peace of mind when dragging it around to even the most unruly of venues.

I'm about to swap the tubes from 6L6's to EL34's and can't wait. I like it with the 6L6's but I hear the EL34's really open this thing up. Would like to bypass the tweeter too but that's down the road a bit. You could always put a baffle (double or otherwise) on it too to bring it closer to the vintage B15. Regardless of the potential mods you can do, this amp sounds REALLY GREAT stock! I would bet the upgraded driver sounds fantastic on it.

This one is really clean too, which is nice. Wish you were selling back when I was looking. Being in NYC, I would have drove up to to CT in a heartbeat. Calling all locals - don't let this one pass you by!

Never played through one. I have played V4s, SVTs vintage and newer but never this. I'll have to to take a look at my schedule and is if I can squeeze it as long as it is still around.

I"m in Mystic, just south of the RI border on the eastern end of CT. About as close to you as one can get and still be in CT.
    A bit over 2 hours I'd guess.

    Bluedog,

Thanks for that great report. I agree about the 100/60 option making it usable for small-to-moderate live venues and, of course, studio. The new driver adds just that much more in both settings, plus more tube tone.
I'd be curious to hear how the EL34's sound. A set of four aren't cheap but hope they are worth it. I've tried disconnecting the tweeter but honestly I can't tell much difference but it was a brief test.

I should note that Bluedog was not compensated for this report -- though he probably should be !!

Sale on hold because of transport issue so this amp is still up for sale, either local pickup or I"ll meet an hour's drive from Mystic CT in any direction. (Except out to sea!)

The long-pending sale fell through (don't you hate that!) so this is back on the market, with a possible shipping option for serious inquiries. Please send me an email in correspondence. My PM quota seems to dwindle fast.
