I really love my alembic, I just haven't been playing it much. The tone is great, but I've just been using my lakland a lot more. Here's a picture. It's a 1980 Alembic series 1. Mahogany body. 5 piece maple/purpleheart neck Vermillion top, back, and headstock veneers. 34" scale, standard point body shape. I bought this from Benjamin Strange and Haight Ashbury music last year. I fixed it up a little bit and used it on some gigs, but it doesn't suit my needs taht much for jazz. Electronically it's in amazing condition. Everything works flawlessly. Physically it has the usual wear and tear, but overall It's in 8-8.5/10 in condition. Has a few dings in the back from the previous owner, and a minor little headstock ding or two.. but other than that it's great! It's setup how I like it. Med-low action, roundwounds. The bass sounds great, looks great, and plays great. The only reason I'm considering selling it is because I'd really like a high end 5er that suits my tonal needs more. This is a great rock bass, many rock greats used series I/II's in the past (Entwistle, JPJ, Stanley etc...). PM me with questions or offers or anything. Right now here are my rates: $3200+shipping or best offer comes with flightcase and power supply cable (no power supply) I am open to trades, and am very flexible.
If I knew how to get that kind of cash without my wife finding out I had it, I'd buy it from you in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I don't. The only reason I posted was because I didn't want you to think no one loved you
Whafrodamus, It has long been my theory that once you cross the $2,500 mark for a used bass, you are looking for a different type of customer and it will take a bit longer to find him. You are looking for the person who wants that particular bass with those particular options (point instead of omega, vermillion instead of coco bolo or walnut, etc etc). When you find him, you guys will be buds, but it might take a while. I saw your post at the Alembic Club. That may shake things loose for you in a hurry. Every month or two, somebody pops in looking for a Series I in good condition, as yours seems to be. Good luck! James
I'd love to trade for Laklands+cash, MTD USA 5-6ers, Fodera (plus a little cash on my end), or any high end 34"-35" scale 5/6er.
At this rate... about every week or two he knocks $200-300 off the price, I will be around that magical $2,500 mark! LOL LOL, Just kidding dude. Good luck with the sale. I played a Series one, five string... standard options with a fx-1 preamp in the case with the cables. He wanted like $4200-4500 for his. His was in great shape but his had lighter color woods than yours, I like the darker colored ones. Evan
