The Skjold has gone back to it's previous owner. The Malinek is still for sale: You want one of the best basses there is (like F-bass, Fodera, Drozd etc.) but you think you cannot afford one? Think again: Here's your chance: From the Netherlands, Europe. Worldwide shipping possible. (Or if you live somewhere near New York I'll bring it to your place in the first week of July) Need some cash so this spare 6-er has to go for around $ 2000,- Or make me an offer. While this is allready a steal, for a player you could bring me in the mood of going down a bit. E-mail: [email protected] This wonderfull artwork of craftsmanship has the tightest B string on this planet and it's sound is overwhelming rich. If you like the Bartolini sounds, you will fall in love with the richness of this beauty. Peter Malinek Physica Bass: 34" * ebony fingerboard * MEC m60206 active pu's * stringspacing 17 mm. * strings through body * Koa body * Spalted maple top * Neck: Ahorn * Gotoh tuners * Bartolini pre-amp * active/passive volume push/pull, blend, bass, treble
Oops, you could be right: Not maple. Out of Pete's options list this one looks most similar to Cocobolo. (edited)
Not Philadelphia, but a 'few' miles north up to New York ... soon ... Heard so much about it and yet never been there. Shame on me.
Scale length on that wild-looking Malinek? Also, is that a MIDI pickup just ahead of the bridge? If so, how is it mounted (i.e., are there any screw holes)?
Hi Mark, The Malinek is 34". If you remove the midi pickup, there are two tiny screw holes. Regards from Wiro.
The Skjold will make it's previous owner happy again. Anyone for the Peter Malinek? Asking price is negotiable, no trades, need cash.
Thanks to this dot pattern it's easy to keep track on the fingerboard, even after a pint or two... You put your finger ON the dot and you're fine. The patterns on the Malinek Physica Bass layed out: On the upper side of the neck: Position 3, 5, 7, 9 each one dot position 12 two dots and from the twelfth position the same repetition: 15, 17, 19, 21 and two dots on position 24. On the fingerboard: Between the low B and E string: Position 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 each one dot. Between the A and D string (the center of the fretboard): Position 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 each one dot Repeated on the second octave: Position 15, 17, 19, 21 and 24 each one dot. On the third octave: Positon 27 and 29 each one dot. Between the high G and C string: From the seventh position all the way up to the 30th position (that's two and a half octave!) each semitone a dot. That's all.
The Skjold is going back to her previous owner: This poor guy regrets it's departure since the day he sold it to me... First guess is right. Second not, so you're not in the final. I'm using it with the Roland VB99: Bubby Lewis on the Roland VB-99 V-Bass System - YouTube
