Fender’s Parallel Universe range was first announced at NAMM back in January and has been providing us with off-the-wall model mash-ups all year, but December marks the release of the final entry in the line-up, the ’51 Telecaster PJ Bass.

Combining specs from the Telecaster, Precision and Jazz Bass, the Tele PJ features a Telecaster bass maple neck with American Vintage ’63 P-Bass profile bolted to a slab ash ’51 P Bass body.

  2. I swear they've done almost this exact same thing before. If they could have at least done this with a slab Jazz body or something else to differentiate it I might be interested.

Agreed. Same ol' same ol'. Too safe of a design.
Why not make it more Parallel Universe/experimental? Perhaps one of the following schemes, all of which would be more interesting to me.
--Do the same thing, but 5 string.
--Wide range in neck, single coil P pickup in the SCPB spot. Vol, tone, 3 way switch. Push/pull parallel on WRHB.
--2 single coil P pickups, one in traditional SCPB spot, other in 60s or 70s J bridge position. VVT.
--2 single coil P or J pickups in the Ric 4001/3 locations. Volume, tone, 3-way switch.
--2 single coil P, or double J or Wide Range pickup at the Stingray sweet spot with a series/parallel operation switch and active/passive electronics with 2 band EQ.
--Wide range in neck, split coil P or another Wide Range in Stingray spot. Vol, tone, 3 way. Push/pull parallel operation of both pickups.
