    Hello TB'ers!

I have a 1979 Fender Jazz bass that I'd like to sell (so I can buy a better upright bass). I was wondering if anyone had an idea how much it could sell for.

Description: Black body, black pickguard, maple neck, maple fingerboard with big square pearl inlays, white binding up and down the edge of the fingerboard.

Alterations (from before I bought it):
    Bad Ass Bridge
battery compartment routed out on the back (for active preamp)

some buckle rash on the back, which has been taped over with gaffers tape (years before I bought it)
    little nicks and scratches.

    Thanks for your advice!!!

You have to be a supporting member to ask questions like this.

I will tell you that the Badass bridge and especially the routing will have a serious negative effect on the value. You're looking at half the value of the same bass in original condition.

If the pickups and electronics are original and it has the original case, I would guess $1500 TOPS. The routing really hurts.

Really nice looking bass though and there is still a huge market for '70's Fenders. I would guess it would be a $1499 bass at a music store and more like a $1200-1300 bass online or CL.
