Everyone always says that Fender doesn't make a six string bass. Well I saw this ad in Bassplayer mag - Can someone identify this one for us?

Fender custom shop for that Tye guy from the farm..

There was thread from one of the past NAMM shows that had them there... Listed at $7,000 IIRC or some outrageous (in my opinion for a Fender anything**) price like that.

Now why doesn't Fender incorporate some basses like that into their lines? For a better price of course...

Also, whay did he go to Fender when he could have gotten the same thing elsewhere cheaper?

And before it gets brought up again... Yes, he had one made by some unknown who slapped a "Fender" logo on it... BUT on the Fender site it does say that the Fender custom shop made one (several?)..

It's in the Fender catalog (printed, but probably there's a PDF version).

    ????

    What? Got a pic???

  13. I'll try and find one - I don't think Fender ever made it as a production model, it was built for Roscoe by one of thier luthiers IIRC...

What's the base price on a Conklin 8 string, again?

  15. I wonder if that means a production version will be coming out, if so I'll buy it cause I love it!

    $4400 when I bought mine...

Of course I got a "Repeat Offender" discount so it was considerably less than that..

    Anymore unnecessary questions??

No, simply pointing out that "outrageous" is relative.

    Hell: Alembic.

  18. in an interview tye says he made the bass, but only the "easy" stuff, like picking out what materials, designing the body and neck, he did do fingerboards, or electronics, or anything hard...but than again, i don't fault him for it, it looks hard!

  19. I'm gonna e-mail fender and see if they plan on making any production versions, I'll get back to everyone.

  20. Fender did make a 6 string called the Fender VI in the 60's or 70's (Not sure what year). Looked like a Strat/Bass with 3 single coils.
