Fender 62 RI Jazz Bass grounding strip crooked? (pics)

    I bought a used 62 CIJ Jazz Bass body that has a crooked ground strip. After removing the bridge, it looks like it's crooked because it's anchored off to the side. Ever seen this before?

    Also, yes, I know, it's quite grimey down there, not exactly pleased about that...

    I have a bass like that. I don't think it matters as long as the bridge is over it.

    Grime is good. It's a gigging bass.
