All, just picked up one of these in Lake Placid blue (as shown in attachment), should be arriving this week... does anyone on the board own one of these or have experience with one?My understanding is that it was a limited run of 70's Jazzes made a couple of years back, produced in LP blue, CA Red and Olympic white...

    Here's mine (recently sold)

They are good basses all around. The necks are thinner than the 75RI. Mine was extremely light weight, but the pickups just roared man. You'll like it. ;)

I've heard great things, wish they made them with B necks too.

What specifically is a 'B' Jazz neck...?

Never said anything about a 'B' Jazz neck.

Fender made three necks in the day: A, B and C.

    A: 1 1/2" - Standard Jazz Neck
    B: 1 5/8" - Standard Modern Precision Bass
    C: 1 3/4" - Old School P-bass

I prefer B necks on all my basses, and since they're interchangable, I play P-necked Jazz basses.

I have the Olympic White Version..

    IMO...

Fender did a really great job with this line of reissue basses..

    Flawless construction,
    great sounding
    not too pricey
    Made in the USA

I hope you like yours when it arrives..

The CAR bass is a 75R.I. FSR special edition built for export while the white and blue basses that came later are 70's R.I. The CAR bass has vintage "75" pups while the other two have vintage pups. The CAR bass is also made of ash, while i'm not 100% sure but I think the 70's basses are alder. Here is the Fender tag from my CAR 75R.I. bass I also believe the necks are a different profile.

OK. you learn something new every day.. I had always incorrectly thought A, B, and C referred to the shape of the necks, not the width at the nut...
    thanks, danny

    Ha...
but now I need answers - does anybody REALLY play with the bridge and pickup covers mounted (besides maybe Will Lee and Marcus Miller...)?
