Fender 72 Reissue Jazz Bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Bass Atlanta, Oct 2, 2004.

  1. Has anyone ever heard of a Fender 72 RI jazz bass? I found one for sale, but I haven't seen it in person. and I can't seem to find any information on that model.

Any information and/or reviews would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Randy

Only RI jazzes on the Fender website are '62 and '75.

It could be a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. It's based on his '72 Jazz Bass, but that's not how they market it. If it's not black with a maple fretboard and black blocks, then it's not even that. Hmmm....

Where is it made? Is it a "CIJ" (crafted in Japan)? Or is it made in the US?

  5. I know which bass you mean--black with pearl blocks, right?--and to be on safety's side would advise you to buy it/put a deposit on it right away, and ask whether it's a USA '75 reissue later. They can always cut you a refund check if they mislabeled it, but $875 for a USA 75 RI in good shape is a pretty good price.
