I think differently. The Aerodyne P is actually one of the lightest P Basses (Fender to a larger extent) that I have played. They are very good basses. POST #900 - GO ME!
I have a friend who has/had one (always buying and selling stuff, so I'm not 100% sure if he still has it). I'm not sure if it was lighter than my Urge, but it was pretty light and very comfortable. As for sounding like a traditional P.......hard to tell. I enjoyed the tone, but some vingage guys may think it sounds nothing like a P bass. They get really picky like that.
You guys aren't helpful ! Now I really want one. I already have a P+J (warmoth + fender parts) but if these sound and play as good as mine, I'll switch just for the looks ! I find them incredibly good looking basses.
The one I've played at GC is a really nice bass. One thing that contributes to that is the setup on it is perfect for me. Most of the other ones in the store are way to high. If you played one, like the sound and feel, I really don't think you could go wrong for the price. There was one for sale down below that last time I checked for 500 bucks.
Japan of course and it looks VERY cool in natural.. http://www.wwbw.com/Fender-Aerodyne...ferralID=8f5a831a-dba0-426d-9b05-5b4cbac709e0
Yeah, the only thing that scared me away was the basswood body. I had a basswood body Kramer years ago (just dated myself), and it was very thin in the lows and low mids. Could have just been that bass though.
