    are they only available in Alder now???
    i love the ones with maple boards and it seems the Fender website only offers Alder - i just sold a couple of basses and passed on a great deal on a used 2005 in alder thinking i'd hold out for a used ash one.
    Who understands Fender around here? :confused:

    If you go to Basscentral and few other cites, they offer the Fender Deluxes in Ash bodies. The Deluxes also are available with maple fingerboards.

    FWIW, I picked up a mintish 2000 MIA JD5 used a few months ago. Ash body in trans red with a Pao fb. It sounds amazing on tape, and since I started playing the new Eden rig, the live sound is mostly awesome.

    Great basses all around, IMO.

    yeah, i think he replaces the decals with the lowrider decals.
    i was at ed roman's recently, needed a string retainer- the employee was very nice, a bass player.. looked at a few basses...nothing i had to have. i was surprised by the shoddy workmanship i expected to be much better on a particular brand, but i won't say names, don't want to offend anyone. no am dlx fenders to be had anywhere.
