Awesome, thanks for responding!I just checked my 1966 AVII Jazz Bass (white with white head stock). The neck binding is very smooth. I don't really feel it at all.
It's an excellent bass.

Def does stock I had oneDoes the 63 not have the tall reverse wind tuners?
As far as I know it does? I swapped out the winders with Gotoh reverse resolites and they look like they are the same size as the originals.Does the 63 not have the tall reverse wind tuners?
I can't compare it to the Vintera II pickup, but compared to the '63 pickup it's less bassy and a bit more balanced. To me it sounds a lot like the Duncan antiquity II I have in the '63 at the moment.Quick question for AV II Precision Bass owners. How is the pickup? I am looking at buying a Mod Shop bass and the AV II P Pickup is an option. I owned a Vintera II P for a while and loved the pickup in it. Not sure how similar the two are. Both are "60s" style split coils. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
They're excellent pv '60 how much are they from the mod shop ? They pop up relatively frequently in the classifiedsQuick question for AV II Precision Bass owners. How is the pickup? I've had two American Vintage II Jazz Basses. One of the them measured .787 at the first fret, and the other measured .817. The Fender Service Diagram says they're shooting for .790.For those who have the '66 jazz...anyone have a caliper measurement for neck thickness at the first fret? Had been waiting for LPB w/matching headstock (after missing the last round from a decade+ or so ago) or....any metallic in matching headstock, for that matter. Just don't know if I can get excited about this given the price point and everything else surround the brand right now. Should have jumped years ago when they were $1700-ish, I guess.
+1 the 64 AVRI. I like the new avri's, but I like the old ones way better. Call up Killer Vintage, I know the guys there and they will absolutely cut you a deal. They offered me 1900 flat once on that bass.I've had two American Vintage II Jazz Basses. One of the them measured .787 at the first fret, and the other measured .817. If you're looking for a Lake Placid Blue Jazz, there's a '64 AV at Killer Vintage guitars.
