Saw the ad pop up on my Facebook and got me curious? Here's the link: http://www.fender.com/fba/bassmantv/ Are these open back, rear ported? Any thoughts, anyone pick one up? Like the classic look and the idea of combo w/tube...
Link works for me. These amps look COOL. Looks like they're directly going after Ampeg with this retro thing. Probably a wise move 'cause the Big A is doing the Big F. No weight specs. I hope they're using Neo so we can actually lift them. I would definitely check the 2x10 out if it showed up at my local dealer. Thanks for the heads-up!!!
Just wondering if you have actually taken one (TV series amp) out for a spin and are basing your judgement on personal experience or???
I think he meant that the actual Fender website link didn't work the first time. That happens when posting website links sometimes.
It doesn't really matter. There are already SO MANY great sounding bass amps in this price point that it's ridiculous. Fender is doing nothing different. First of all, a hybrid class D amp (what to save weight? Oh wait, look at the non-neo speakers! Fail) instead of an all-tube combo and ONLY RATED AT 150 WATTS? What's the point? If you're not going to go all tube, squeeze 400-500 watts in there! Especially if you're going to charge close to a grand! It's a gimmick. It's a looks-only selling point. The people who are going to go out and buy this amp aren't doing it because it's the next great thing.
Total agree with this point, but you know it's funny: Somehow or other "gimmick" will sell and sell very well
I agree. IMO these offer less power and similar features to alternatives costing much less. That's a lot of coin for a tweed suit and the Fender decal. Unless they sound far better (not sure why they would-nothing in the specs to suggest it IMO) count me out.
