So Fender basically makes two types of basses, the precision and jazz. So what are the difference between the two in the first place wnd what are the diference between the "standard" 'american" and "American Deluxe." Just curious.

Please use the search feature we've got, it works great for this topic.

    But basically:

Shape, neck width, neck profile, type of pickup, number of pickup.

The differences is different stuff is put into it, deluxe is usually active as well.

MIM, HW1, and MIA all have different finishes, weight, pickups and such.

Also, the American's don't have that ugly hole underneath the pickguard.

    Also, Jazz and Precision have...

    1) Different Pickups
    2) Different Shaped Necks
    3) Different Body Styles
    4) Different Control Knobs
    5) Different Sounds

Precision: slightly smaller bod, chunkier neck, split pups have
HB effect, thump. Jazz: sexier bod, thinner neck, 2 SC pups for more tonal variation, growl. Can't go wrong with either. As
for Deluxe vs American Std... better pups (noiseless, etc) and fancier details (abalone inlays, etc) and some have a slightly
smaller lower bout shape. Pretty, but just bells and whistles.
