    hey folks -

i pulled down some of the pics that i think steve "dude" barr took at namm from the fender custom shop - and have been really intrigued by them, particulalry the 6 strings

i think they're cool as all get out lookin, and would die to hear/play one - i also noticed that had "sold" tags on 'em -

    1) since this is like the utlimate bass-finder board, does anyone know who owns these? or has heard them or seen them out on a gig somewhere?

    2) would anyone know how to go about contacting whoever made them to get some real quality shots of them and other custom shop rare beauties or new designs (i.e. 6's, 7's) in the offing?

    3) the custom shop axes fender puts in the catalogs are sweet to be sure, but i'm always am left betting they have some real show stoppers off-camera, y'know?

    thanks for any help!

    1) Roscoe Beck has a greenburst 6-string custom made by Mike Stevens, ex of the Fender Custom Shop.

    2) See above.

    3) Check out Beck's "Blues Foundations" video.

someday I'm going to order an 8 string (non doubled) Jazz bass.... with 3 of those roscoe beck-ish J humbickers....and a Buckeye burl top....or some crazy thing like that......barely a true fender, but it would be cool, and make people go "woah!".

I'd love to try a fender 6 of some sort. Doubt they will ever get to the stores around here if they ever go into production, which is unlikely, but ya never know.

I took a tour of the Fender Factories a few years ago & one of the basses I played was a Fretless 6 string bass. Their were a few other interesting peices that I took pics if but this is the only one on my computer. :)
