The bass uses the Kubicki active/passive preamp. It sounds a lot like my Ex Factor. In passive mode, you get the standard solid, earthy Precision tone. Flip to active mode and the sound really punches. Here is the Fender manual for the controls: http://tinyurl.com/cf83w

If I'm not mistaken, the 2005 Vintage Guitar and Bass Price Guide listing for this bass is $1400 for crappy condition, $1700 for excellent. Nice investment here.

We all know that value is based on what someone is willing to pay for a particular instrument. With that being said, If I had the money I would pay way more than your asking for it. I think it is gorgeous and definitely a smart investment. Good luck with this one!
