Does anybody know a good source for the 70's style maple Fender decals...I think I'm gonna produce a Geddy Lee style Warmoth bass, but they don't have a source for decals. Thanks for the help

You could get them from Fender for free, but I heard someplace you need pics of the neck and a seriel number so they don't think your trying to counterfeit basses.

    I found this at Reranch.com:

"If your decal has been destroyed replacement decals are available through authorized Fender dealers. (The dealer may ask you to bring the neck in to verify the neck is an actual Fender product)."

  7. Uhh...I dunno if this would work. Finding a repro decal (around $15 on eBay when they show up) would probably be a lot easier than lying to Fender to get one.

I was just thinking that you'd probably need to take the actual bass to a Fender dealer for them to verify that the decal is lost or damaged. Then the dealer would take photos of it and get a new decal from Fender. Otherwise, I could just use the same pictures of someone's bass over and over again.

70's repro decals really aren't that hard to find. I'm not sure if it's legal to make them though.

Why do you want to put a Fender decal on a non-Fender bass? Why not design your own decal; it's not that difficult.

You can find the decals on eBay from $15-$50 depending on how many are on @ a time, buy it now prices, etc. Ive gotten a few & they've all been good.

I've also bought a BadAss II off of ebay, new in package fairly cheap. <a href="http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&ht=1&query=badass+bass">CLICK HERE</a> to see some on eBay. You could also go to www.allparts.com.

I'm trying to make my bass authetic looking...yeah sure I could make my own...I've seen water decal kits and I own a copy of Photoshop 6 and Illustrator and I'm awesome at them...I'll probably end up faking my own...I know what fonts they use.

What does that say about Fender's craftsmanship, when a sticker is enough to make somebody believe that your hand-built Warmoth is the real thing?

I mean, that would be like taking a Honda Super Hawk (as cool as they are), sticking a Ducati sticker on the tank and calling it a 748. Anyone that knows anything about bikes will know it's not a Duck, regardless of what it says on the tank.

Actually I think nothing of Fender....there quality is poor, but I'm basically using Fenders reputation...I want to make a great quality Fender...that was my mission.
Edit: I get what your saying now...your cracking on their quality. Its not really lack of quality, its like the Colt 1911, its so traditional that everybody makes there own version that looks exactly like it. What about Sadowsky...I could probably easily fake a Sadowsky with Warmoth parts.

I have 2 Warmoth basses & built about 6v all together & all of them were better playing, sounding & feeling than a Fender.

Awesome bass. One of the best basses in my collection.

Swamp ash body w/AAAA quilt top
    Aguilar OBP-1 pre amp & EMG 40 J's
    Maple/Maple neck
    Schaller bridge
    Gotoh tuning machines

Only bass that I like better is my Sadowsky 24 fret 5 string.

I was not cracking on Fender! My point was, that it takes more than a Fender sticker to make a Fender what it is.

Well anyways check out the fake decal I made...the Fender is totally off, but if you weren't looking at a Fender you might be convinced...I'm debating on whether to put Bender or something silly instead of Fender...I made this in about 10 mins...so some of it is sloppy, but otherwise convincing...I'm missing patent numbers and such, but thats about it.
