don't have the original electronics for the bass either. How hard would it be to change this bass back to the original set up? What would I need to get and, ball park, what would I be looking at price-wise?

Am I right to assume I'd need a new control plate and a new set of pickups?

just get any nice set of passive pickups, then get any nice preamp that uses two holes for knobs.

you'd likely end up with something better than the original setup anyway.

I have 2 deluxe J's, and the only thing I would do is change out the pickups for more aggresive ones. I like the preamp so much, I bought another to install in my mm/p Frankenstein.
