Sup ndjx, I was at mars music today, and I played a fender zone, it was the P/J version. Let me just say I was very impressed. That bass was so puncy. When I popped the G string, it was really awesome. It sounds really good when u slap and pop it. This bass has a really "in your face" kind of tone. I just can't get over how good it sounded when i popped the G string. It was bright, and I had everything set flat on the bass and on the amp. I didn't mess with the onboard eq, so i can't say anything about that. All in all, the bass has a really "in your face" tone, and I really liked it. By the way the bass is string through body too, something I havn't seen on a mexican made fender. My advice to you is go and check it out. Sincerely, Greg P P.S. I am the proud owner of a MIM jazz bass, and this zone bass, carrys the tradition of well made mexican basses.
Thanks! Could you relate it to any other Fenders? I've played alot but never a Deluxe Zone, how's the neck and feel of the bass?
How does the Zone compare to both J and P? How does the neck feel? What kind of pickups are on the Zone? Does the Zone have a "brand new" sound? I'm really waiting to try out the FMT series as well as the Victor Bailey Signature.
Ive only played one zone, it was an mim dlx one and i didnt care for it too much. the neck was easy to play and quite small, but the bass felt way too light imo and lacked some pressance that its mim dlx jazz counter part has,
