Fender enters the home studio market

No trial version, yet.
But there is a free cross platform Fender Studio app that looks worth checking out.
It links directly with Fender Studio Pro 8 as well.

FYI to anyone still following along:
I had to log into my PreSonus/Fender account for a few things and noticed I still had an unused additional upgrade/update for StudioOne Pro 7 (without a subscription) in my account's 'software' section. Still PreSonus, not 'Fender Studio'. SO - if you are a longtime PreSonus user, you may be able to upgrade/redeem downloads from past purchases or offeres up to/preceding the switch to 'Fender Studio'. YMMV.

As they should be. There were questions - from myself and others - on how backward compatibility and legacy matters would be handled.
I teach a college class covering intro digital music techniques, MIDI/ Audio production, etc., and have used Studio One for the past 5 years because of two things: 1) it is cross-platform, which is essential when dealing with a class of 10-15 where everyone has different laptops, and 2), there was a free 30-day trial version, which saved students a few bucks before most of them went to the monthly subscription for 2-3 months. I really hope the free trial version is reinstated soon!
Now having to use Fender Studio Pro 8 this semester (mainly for my sake, to be honest), but the class isn't too happy about forking over some extra dough so early on…

I just saw at Sweetwater today that they are blowing out the remaining stock of Presonus audio interfaces, about $200 less than the rebadged Fender versions.
They need to learn about the DAW software money pit sometime

If you get the right one, or the right accessory (like the FaderPort) to go with the bespoke PreSonus interface(s), you can often score a free version of StudioOne 7 Pro, the last version before the F*nder takeover.
thanks. I've dived a bit into how PDC compensation works in Logic (and what problems are users reporting) and after this I considered the S1 isn't that bad after all.
I've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to V8 from V5 (needed functionality that was introduced in V7). well, it works, but the real-time performance in low-latency scenario (I use a very low latency Thunderbolt audio interface) is noticably worse than on V5. like: I need now twice the latency I need in V5. I hope, this is something that can be improved, as a x.0 version is kinda expected to be buggy, tho.
p.s. strangely enough, my dreaded macro works yet, but I'll give it more extensive testing.

Please read my post again. My statement was that S7 was the final version of STUDIO ONE, branded as such, without all of the extra 'things' and other modifications Fender did to whatever their 'Studio 8' is now. The point was that if you want the most up to date version of PRESONUS STUDIO ONE, then 7 is it. The 'FENDER TAKEOVER' to which I refer is the re-branding and subsequent killing off of 'PRESONUS STUDIO ONE.'
It is possible to download and have that version WITHOUT the subscription model, depending on the interface/accessory you purchase, because I have it. It came bundled with my FaderPort I bought last August. I believe the evidence of my eyes and ears. Carry on.
the v7 was entirely done under Fender management and already includes the subscription model and extra things and other modifications implemented under Fender management. the Fender rebranding and Fender VST amps were indeed added in the v8, but that's not really important.
what's important that Fender broke the release cycle S1 had and implemented a new licensing and release model, this was introduced in V7, but not in V8.
it's licensed just the same as 8: 'lifetime' license has a subscription-based support.
based on my experience (I'm a decade-old S1 user), you don't get the old version bundled with an interface or a controller. when you activate it, you get the most recent version, not the one that was the latest at the time of manufacturing the device. that always had been exactly like this.
if you had activated a new interface or controller in last two weeks -- well, it's hard to believe, they changed it. if not -- well, it never worked like that. at least since V2, I think.

Can you please stop trying to reframe/rewrite my words when I know what I said the first time around, and what I use daily in my studio? You do not know more than me about what I use and currently have installed.
YES - F*nder has owned PreSonus since 2021. That is not up for debate. But PreSonus continued to operate and develop as its own entity in name up until this new Studio 8 deal.
I installed a NEW Studio 24C interface in August on my new workstation and installed the version of StudioOne ARTIST 6 (no perpetual license/subscription) that came with it. A month later I bought and installed a PreSonus FaderPort that included a free upgrade (without a perpetual license/subscription) to StudioOne PRO 7. I did not install it at the time and kept running on V6 since I was in the middle of finishing 2 projects.
I literally downloaded the standalone V7 version in my FENDER/STUDIO ONE account 2 weeks ago, because I had not yet redeemed it. My 2 major projects are done and now was the right time to do it. ALL of my prior standalone versions of S1 (going back to 2015) are accessible and downloadable in my (migrated) account. I have not, and will not, activate any F*nder Studio 8 license. If you continue to press on this, I can take screenshots of my current F*nder account software downloads to show that you're wrong.
I DO NOT have a subscription to V7. Period. I have a STANDALONE VERSION, just like I did for V5 and V6.

uhm, you do have a subscription: you have one year of support and updates. that's how a 'lifetime' license from V7 works.
if you'll open your S1 product details, you'll see a line like `Eligible for all updates until ...`, that's that subscription I'm talking about.
it's the same for the V8, they didn't change a thing in their licensing model introduced in V7.
source: I have a 'lifetime' V8 with the same restrictions as your V7.
A bit late… I own S1 version 6, the last version supported by MacOS Mojave. I had great expectations for Studio One as it had integration with Presonus hardware. I have a Quantum TB2 and a 2626.
However, despite investing in S1 and doing some home projects with it, I fell back to Reaper when I realized that:
- S1 added a bit of buffer for its hybrid playback/record engine;
- I couldn't route Quantum 2626 outs easily without some convoluted tricks;
- Reaper was way more efficient at the same buffer sizes;
- I spend around 60 bucks every 3-4 years and it covers two main Reaper versions;
- Forum support is gone for S1.
Now, what I liked about S1:
- Well polished GUI, Reaper is a bit Windows 98 in some areas…;
- Lot of contents (sounds, fx, freebies) with S1. With Reaper, no content but nowadays, it's easy to build yourself your « content » with fx and such…;
- A bit more intuitive than Reaper. With Reaper, there are so many possibilities that you could lose yourself;
- Way better MIDI workflow than Reaper…
My two cents!
